Earth Day!
As always in special days like this one, today, is, Uncle Bob Editor, of 123Greetings shamelessly invites me to Send Administrative Professionals Day® Ecards Free!
No, that's not it... That was several days removed from today... Today is, after all, EARTH DAY - very nearly and for all intents and purposes pretty much the OPPOSITE of any kind of "professionals" day...! If you're a "pro," you're all-business and most likely have ZERO "eco-conscience"...! But that is another story, to be debated at another time... For now, all we should know about and strive to do would be Send Election Day Ecards Free!
No, nooooo - that's also not it! Even though the environment is a HUGE issue in the current electoral campaign and this Earth Day 2008 coincides with a pivotal Pennsylvania Primary - and, sure, that too is quite important (and most certainly worthy of mention here, on the LUDICROUS BLOG!) for Hillary and Barack cannot get along and gotta continue getting it on (either in verbal tirades themselves or via stand-ins/stunt doubles, as seen last night on the comical edition of WWE Monday Night RAW (sorry, no link this time - I wouldn't lower the LUDICROUS BLOG standards by linking up to THAT... THAT... "raw" stuff! But I digress...!)
There's much to say about the "importance" of electing a CANDIDATE to THEN, later on, elect a new U.S. Prez (and self-proclaimed, grandiloquent "leader of the free world" too... Granted, U.S. Presidents are not alone in attributing to their position that additional rank; their usual patsy, the Canadian Prime Minister, also says it! Jean Chrétien did, back in the day, and the old coot must know what he's talking about - last night, he was among the masses of inept, idiotic fans waving their white flags (giving up?) at the Boston Bruins when the latter team tried to eliminate the overrated Montreal Canadiens from the "contention" that they deem to be naturally theirs...! But I am digressing again here, aren't I?)
So then, although electing another U.S. Prez to lead us all down the tubes is certainly important, and I am not one to criticize (much) the need for a democratic system, today is, primarily (pun fully intended) and first and foremost Earth Day.
Uncle Bob threw in the following "Zen quote from Eddie Albert" with his reminder to all that, today, was indeed Earth Day (also mentioning, in the same breath, that good ol' Eddie helped found the "holiday" - not only based on the fact that he had starred in something called "Green Acres" but also because "April 22nd happens to be his birthday." Did Eva Gabor bake some of her specialty pancakes for you then, Eddie? Never mind). Eddie Albert reputedly said, "What's the most important thing in the world? It's love, and I look at that as an energy, not a sentiment." For his part, Uncle Bob looks at it as "the love for life, the love for the world we live in and the love for people around you."
As for me, I will wonder out loud here if loving a world that doesn't love itself and loving people that don't love neither themselves, nor the earth (and much less *you*) makes any kind of sense at all - and isn't indeed the apex of ludicrous behaviour?!?
